Hello!!
Madison here, founder and manager of all things at Little Sloans! As I stated on my Instagram, I don’t like to decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving. However, we did pull out our Christmas books, and there are so many good ones!! I thought I’d send you a fun list of cheerful holiday books that we’re loving, sharing, and adding to cart!
Christian Christmas Books
- Tomie dePaola’s Book of Christmas Carols – this is really a hymnal with dePaola’s classic drawings, and my kids love singing through it!
- Country Angel Christmas by Tomie dePaola – one of my personal faves
- Sounding Joy by Ellie Holcomb – I love all her books, and this one is no exception!
- Who is Coming to Our House? By Joseph Slate and Ashley Wolff – the sweetest Christmas book, especially for younger children!
- The Little Drummer Boy by Ezra Jack Keats
- The Story of Christmas from the King James Bible – this book has the most beautiful decorations, and since it is the story of Christmas straight from the Bible, we use this book on Christmas morning to read the story of Jesus’ birth to our kids!
- Silent Night by Lara Hawthorne
- Christmas in the Barn by Margaret Wise Brown – another great one for littler kids!!
Non-Religious Christmas Books
- Willowby’s Christmas Tree by Robert Barry – my kids think this book is so funny!
- How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss – a classic for good reason!
- Dogger’s Christmas by Shirley Hughes
- Flicka, Ricka, Dicka and their New Skates by Maj Lindman
- The Jolly Christmas Postman by Janet and Allan Ahlberg – this was my favorite Christmas book as a child, so I was excited to have it for my children!
- Jingle Bells by Kathleen Daly
- The Night Before Christmas (Little Golden Book)
- Little Blue Truck’s Christmas by Alice Schertle
- Calico the Wonder Horse by Virginia Lee Burton – the perfect book to pair with the Hillsboro or Franklin!! Also perfect if you have a cowboy lover!
I like to add to our Christmas book collection every year, and ones that I’m eyeing include Madeline’s Christmas, Cranberry Christmas, The Story of Holly & Ivy, and Alfie’s Christmas! I will report back on those!
If you’re already starting to think Christmas, check out our Hillsboro, Franklin, and Mary collections! Our Mary collection has already been very popular, and we would love to get to dress your kiddos for Christmas!
That’s it for now! I’ll be back next weekend with more fun! As always, feel free to respond to this email with any questions, comments, or shout-outs!!
XO, Madison
